Abstract
Learning is a process performed by individuals that result in a change in their behaviors. The readiness of a child to learn effectively depends on not only on the learning process provided by his/her school but also on the outside environment. By taking both into consideration, the government can make the students more adept at responding to various situations at hand. The readiness of a student to learn can be affected by many factors. This study aims to identify the factors in the students' readiness to learn in class X of Office Administration in SMK Negeri 1 Salatiga in the academic year 2015/2016. The study was conducted on class X of Office Administration that had a total of 70 students,consisting of 36 students of class XAP1 and 30 students of class XAP2. The methods used for data collection of the sample were by documentations and questionnaires, and data analysis by factor analysis.This reduces the data analysis of many factors involved to be a bit. The results of factor analysis showed that there were five factors: 1) the maturity and professionality of schools have contributed as much as 28.329%; 2) motives and understanding of parents by 12.166%; 3) relations and forms by 9.441%; 4) background factors of health and teaching tools by 8.257%; and 5) friendships by 7.383%. Of the 31 factors analyzed, 14 variables formed into six new factors, which are the readiness of the students to learn. They amounted to 65.575%. The remainder of 34.425% was part of other factors not specified in this model. A suggestion derived from this research is that parents should better understand the needs of their child and give him/her attention as this will make the child interested and motivated in studies. By guiding their child continuously, parents would be able to provide a feeling of companionship, which is more desirable and useful for the child than just meeting the needs of him/her. Parents need to know the development process of children so that they can treat their child properly, making the child a productive member of society.
