Abstract

Maternal Mortality Ratio in Tegal Regency remains high. Purpose this study was determine the factors associated with maternal mortality in Tegal Regency. This study used the analytical survey method with case control. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling with the total sample of 54 respondents. The result of this research showed that factors of maternal mortality was pregnancy complication (p value = 0,002, OR= 6,400), birth complication (p value = 0,002, OR = 6,400), postpartum complication (p value = 0,000, OR = 15,400), nutritional status (p value = 0,012, OR = 4,375), anemia status (p value = 0,029, OR = 0,029), maternal illness (p value = 0,021, OR = 4,086), birth spacing (p value = 0,029, OR= 3,400), ownership of health insurance (p value = 0,000, OR = 12,250), mode of birth (p value = 0,006, OR = 5,091), education (p value = 0,000, OR = 12,571), family income (p value = 0,003, OR = 5,714), residential areas (p value = 0,004, OR = 6,192), EMAS program (p value = 0,024, OR = 10,947). The variables which were not related to factors of maternal mortality were history of previous birth, age, parity, late referral, job, marital status, culture of food abstinence. The research recommended that it is necessary to detect signs of pregnancy complication, birth complication, and postpartum complication.
