Abstract

This final project is about Holocaust toward the Jews found in The Pianist movie vs “Holocaust” toward the Palestinian found in Occupation 101 documentary movie . The aims of this study are to analyze the version of Holocaust toward the Jews according to The Pianist, to analyze the version of Holocaust toward the Palestinians according to Occupation 101. The object of this study is a film entitled The Pianist and Occupation 101 documentary movie. The data for this study are in the forms of phrases, sentences, paragraphs, and dialogs found in the film. The data were collected by means of watching, reading, identifying, inventorizing, classifying and reporting. The collected data were put in appendices. Appendix 1 is the list of the overall data. Appendix 2 is list of the classified data, answering problem 1. Appendix 3 is the list of classified data, answering problem 2. The classified data were then analysed using theory drawn with New Historicism in literary approach. The result of the study are: Holocaust toward Palestinians still happens until now, and Holocaust toward the Jews was only a story because there were many versions about Holocaust toward the Jews. People could not believe whether one version is true or not. From the data analysis, I may conclude that: 1) there are clear descriptions about Holocaust toward the Jews and “Holocaust” toward Palestinians, 2) What Israeli had done to Palestinians (Occupied their land, live under military occupation, demolish their house,etc) have many similarities with Holocaust toward the Jews (Invaded their country, imprison them in Ghetto, etc), that is why that action also called Holocaust, 3) Holocaust toward the Jews could be stopped because there were many support for several countries to help the Jews, however Holocaust toward Palestinians could not be stopped because the support from big countries was not to Palestinians but to the country who had Holocaust to them. To other writers who want to analyze Holocaust, I suggest analyzing another topic about Holocaust. I also hope that the readers could increase their awareness on social phenomena around them.
