Abstract

Nutrition is an important determinant of optimal performance athletes. Preliminary study showed 60% PS UNNES footballers have the energy intake is less than adequate. Purpose of this study is to design a medium to improve dietary compliance footballers in PS UNNES. The study involving 30 athletes PS UNNES, uses one group pre and post test design. Instruments diet circles given as treatment. The effectiveness of the instrument seen from differences in diet adherence scores before and after intervention. Dietary compliance was assessed by five indicators, namely the amount of energy intake, schedule meals, fluid intake, the type of fluid consumed during the match, and the percentage of calories from carbohydrates. The results showed significant differences between diet adherence scores before and after treatment (p = 0.0001). Based on the increase in scores before and after the intervention, diet circles instruments proved quite effective in improving dietary adherence scores of athletes. It is suggested that PS management UNNES make nutrition counseling and training programs at regular intervals.
