Abstract

KTSP claims that every teacher should be able to develop her own teaching documents including the teaching material. Therefore, in this final project the writer tries to give a model how to develop the teaching material. The problems that had been discussed in this final project are what kinds of factor that can influence the teacher-made material of spoken recount text and how a teacher develops the material of spoken recount text for eight grader students of Junior High School. The purpose of this final project are to find some factors influence the writer in providing the spoken recount text material for students Junior High School year VIII semester II, the teacher’s way to make the material model of spoken recount text and also to know what are students response when they are taught by using teacher made-material of spoken recount text. This final project used the research and development (R&D) and also qualitative descriptive research design to develop the material. The material was validated by three experts to come to the final product. There were two questionnaires for students and teacher who used the material to support the validation. Before the writer got her product, several steps were taken in order to have the final draft of the material. The steps were needs analysis, mapping the Content Standard, constructing the Syllabus, constructing the Lesson Plan, and developing the teacher-made material draft. After the teaching material draft was validated by the three experts, the writer tried out the material to 28 students of SMPN 3 Tempuran and to the teacher by using questionnaire. The writer conducted the revision on the grammar, instructions, etc. When all the steps were finished, the material can be used to teach grade VIII students of Junior High School. Even though it was validated and declared as a good teaching material there were some considerations. The teacher should pay attention to several aspects: (a) the teacher should give the instruction clearly to the students, so the learning process will be conducted in a good way; (b) the teachers should give the students chance to develop their ability in speaking; (c) the teacher should motivate the students to be brave in retelling the story in front of the class; (d) the teachers can follow the steps given in this final project to developing teaching material, they; (e) every students has different characteristics, so, please apply the material based on the students’ capacity and needs.
