Abstract
The topic of the research is the improving students’ writing skill of hortatory exposition text through facilitating error correction feedback by the teacher for grade xi students of senior high school. . The objectives of this research are to describe the implementation of teaching writing skill through facilitating error correction feedback by the teacher for grade XI students of senior high school and to find out whether the facilitative error correction feedback improve the students’ writing skill of hortatory exposition text. To achieve the objectives of this research, the writer designed an action research. The samples used in the research were 40 students of the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 1 Subah. The writer took all of them as the subject of the study. The technique used for collecting data is pre-test and post-test and interview. First, the writer gave a pre- test. It was conducted at the beginning of the research. Second, the second activity was held. It was continued with the third activity, the fourth activity, the fifth activity and post-test was conducted. At last the teacher made interview with the students about the difficulties in writing. The result of the study was that the students’ progress during teaching and learning activity to improve students’ writing skill trhough facilitating errror correction feedback was good. The students’ achievement in writing was improved, it was supported by the significance result of the pre-test was 62.1%; writing the first draft on the first cycle was 65.85%; writing the second draft 71.5 %; writing the final copy was 74.2%; writing the first draft on the second cycle was 71.8%; writing the second draft was 75.3% and writing the final copy was 79.6%. Based on analysis of the data that the writer got from the total score of pre-test, writing draft I, writing revision I, writing final copy I, writing draft II, writing revision II and writing final copy II. The writer concluded that facilitative error correction feedback by the teacher in writing class can develop the students’ ability in a writing of hortatory exposition text.
