Abstract

The object of the study is The Death of Hercules story which is written by Alfred Church. The story is a myth from Greek and this is such as a hypothetical story but it might happen in the real life. It tells about the human power that could be changed due to certain situations. Whatever that faced by human must have a cause and consequence. When human in the emosional effects, they can do things uncontrolled. There are several charecter who have experience changes because of the emotional distress such as Hercules and Deinera, This study was analyzed qualitatively as a method of finding data, analyzing data, and presenting data. The data of this study is in the form of written words and pictures. There were several steps in analyzing the data. First, read the story. The story has been read over and over again to understand the content of the story. Second, the data related to problem were listed. Third, the selected data were analyzed using psychological approach. The results indicated that there were mechanism emotion show by each characters such as Hercules who committed to suicide because he feels there is no creature on this earth which can kill him except himself, while Daineira committed to suicide because she was scared and regret what she had done that is poisoning the person she loves. Because of guilty then she decided to end her life By analyzing the Death of Hercules story through the point of view that is psychology, it can be drawn conclusions that humans have emotion that can change over time. It cannot be separated from the basic of human personality, namely: id, ego, super ego. The basic of human personality must be in line, if there are a reasonable and stable balance of three elements (id, ego, and superego), it will obtain normal. However, if there are imbalances between three elements, it will get abnormal. There will always be imperfection in every research, so the next research should be conducted in order to complete the flaw in it. The researcher suggests that the next research should discuss about the further implication of human emotion in the students of English Literature.
