Abstract

A small thing can cause a great impact on later life. Human life has a series of interrelated events. The best future is always preceded by good behavior. Fault system at the beginning can lead to bad things on the end of result. The object of this study is a movie entitled Butterfly Effect directed by Eric Bress and J. Mackye Gruber. This movie is about the Chaos theory which is influencing all of life described by the human behavior in the movie. The purposes of this study are to describe the scope of Chaos theory and its roles to the society. This study focuses on the characteristics of Chaos theory and its impact toward the society. In this final project I used a descriptive qualitative research method in which the data were in the form of written words and they were analyzed descriptively. There were several steps in analyzing the significance of chaos theory phenomenon in this movie. Firstly, I watched the movie several times to understand the whole story. Secondly, I listed the data which are related to the topic from the movie as well as the script based on their meaning and then categorized them according to the objectives of the study. The next step, I interpreted the data according to the theory related to the topic in order to clarify and analyze the meaning. Finally, I presented the conclusion and suggestion. This study emphasizes on two main objectives. First, is to explore the meaning of Chaos theory in social behavior in the movie and the second is to discover the significance of the society behavior nowadays viewed from the perspective of Chaos theory. Finally, this study is expected to give additional knowledge to the readers about Chaos theory that may be useful as an additional reference. Moreover, this study is also expected to improve human behaviors on how human could fix and arrange the better future with intervention and prediction.
